The Central Georgia Daylily Club walked the entire garden and this was their choice to name for Mel Shoup.  A rich deep velvet red base color with a deep green throat.  The large washed eye captures your eye.  This big over lapping flower is finished with a gold edge.
Very important is the fact that Mel Shoup Memorial is a true dormant that grows very well in the North and South.  The foliage is beautiful and low, the flower surpass its famous parent Blindingly Beautiful in every way.
